Footnote for your feet

Flip Flop Feet are a very real issue with today's shoe styles. In order to keep your feet attractive and healthy, here are a few tips for you to try.

  1. 1.Check your feet every day for moles, freckles that change color or shape or other irregular irritations.

  2. 2.Use sunscreen on your feet, especially your toes.  Incidents of skin cancer are increasing on feet and hands.

  3. 3.Avoid HOT!  Don't walk barefoot on hot pavement.  Burns and other irritations can occur.

  4. 4.Wash your feet every day. Use warm water and blot dry, especially between your toes.

  5. 5.Buy shoes that FIT, be sure they are wide enough to freely wiggle your toes, are shaped like your foot and fit securely.

  6. 6.Most of all:  Don’t forget the Pedicure!  Our Manicure / Pedicure Specialist will be able to identify potential issues as well as groom calluses, nails and skin.

It's not just a steam anymore!! Using Antibiotics Responsibly

Our generation has been very fortunate.  Since the 1940's, antibiotics have killed or managed the deadly diseases that had impacted our ancestors. Unfortunately, the overuse of these antibiotics have built resistance in microbes that now defies its efficacy. According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control-http://www.cdc.gov/drugresistance/about.html:)

 "Antibiotic use has been beneficial and, when prescribed and taken correctly, their value in patient care is enormous. However, these drugs have been used so widely and for so long that the infectious organisms the antibiotics are designed to kill have adapted to them, making the drugs less effective. People infected with antimicrobial-resistant organisms are more likely to have longer, more expensive hospital stays, and may be more likely to die as a result of the infection."

How can we be more responsible in our 'Germ Battles"?  Certainly plain old soap and water is the first line of defense.  Be sure to wash and scrub hands at least 2 minutes under hot water.   Continue to use prescribed antibiotics when suggested by your physician. The use of key Pure Essential Oils, purchased at your local health foods store can also play a part:
