What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. It is a natural technique, designed to unblock and direct energy flow. Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive method that strengthens the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
Or for the very practical or unbelieving folks reading this:
Think of how everyone needs a warm touch or emotional empathy during times of stress. Humans are comprised of 65% water with electrical stimulation between our muscles, brain and nerve tissue, etc. When using Reiki, think of the “energy” as “conductivity”, which can be channeled through these mediums to help move stress and remove it from the body.
What can you expect from a Reiki session?
A session lasts about 45 minutes to 1 hour. The experience is unique to each person. You lay fully clothed on your back on a massage table in a relaxed and comfortable environment. The practitioner lays their hands on or above certain areas of your body called Chakras or energy centers for 3-5 minutes.
There are seven chakras in your body that can become blocked or unbalanced. You may feel a number of sensations during a session like relaxation, tingling, heat, you may see colors, or you may feel nothing and that’s OK too!
You will leave the session with a sense of renewal. Some have said they feel more joyful, lively, and their energy is enhanced after having Reiki sessions performed often. At the very least you will enjoy an hour of relaxation, or at best it can greatly enhance your life
